Ecological Excursions across the Australian continent
The Australian Company PavEcol organizes and conducts excursions for German university students of landscape ecology, geobotany, nature conservation and biogeography across Australia.
The excursions are introduced by a lecture-series on the evolution, geology, vegetation and nature conservation of Australia and follow a northeast-southwest or north-south transect to study changes in landscapes according to climatic and edaphic gradients. PavEcol supplies a range of maps, identification tools and special literature for these excursions. Talks by specialists focus on questions of land degradation, control of invasive species and ecotourism. Guided walks on nature reserves deal with fire management, erosion and cooperation with traditional owners.
The excursions are also suitable for interested people with a low budget; they include basic accommodation on campgrounds and on reserves, self-sufficiency and budget-level transport.
