Plant life in Extreme and Changing Environments

Meeting of the GfÖ specialist groups "Desert Ecology" and "Experimental Ecology" in cooperation with German Society of Limnology (DGL - Deutsche Gesellschaft für Limnologie)
The meeting discussed current progress and challenges of functional plant ecology and related experimental ecological research on different scales from plant parts to terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. The meeting focussed on drought and salt stress, temperaturetolerance, water logging and anaerobic stress, tolerance to acidic and alkaline water and soil, heavy metals and arsenic as stress factors.

Rangeland Ecology and Management

Global climate and institutional changes are a huge challenge for sustainable use of rangelands. Aim of the workshop is to bring together various disciplines dealing with rangelands in drylands (including Europe). Topics are e.g. rangeland ecology, biodiversity, socio-economy, human ecology, and sustainable management.
