The GfÖ working group Plant Population Biology was founded in 1988. Our aims are to promote modern plant population biological research, provide a forum for national and international scientific exchange in this field, and to promote young scientists. We are interested in population ecology and population genetics, and we exchange ideas with closely related disciplines such as biogeography, systematics, community ecology, evolutionary ecology, and conservation biology. Our working group has a pleasant demographic structure, with many young and female researchers, and a growing number of colleagues from other, non-German speaking European countries.
The annual meeting of our working group, which takes places in late May/early June, has already a long tradition. In the last years, this meeting has become more and more international, with participants from all over Europe. Our working group also often organizes symposia at the annual GfÖ meeting or at other scientific meetings.
