The working group of Soil Ecology was founded in 2002 and works around all biotic and abiotic aspects of Soil Science. Major fields of interest are soil processes and primary producers / decomposer interactions, food web, decomposer dynamics, soil and biota interactions, climatic impact, soil chemistry and soil physics and their influence on biotic processes, respectively.
The overall interest is to contribute to the networking of different fields within the GfÖ.
The working group cooperates with the working group of Soil Ecology of German society of Soil Science (DBG). In the recent years we organized together on an annual basis symposia, workshops and meetings on the following topics:
Methods in Soil ecology in 2003
Method workschop: "Soil Biology – Soil Chemistry – Soil Ecology" 2004
Workshop in cooperation with working group "Soil in lessons and postgraduate professional education" of DBG: "Sustainable concepts for e-Learning (2004)"
Above ground and below ground: Decomposer and primary producer interactions in 2005
From microsites to landscapes: upscaling of ecological soil processes 2006
Some of the abstracts are presented in the part "Archiv".
The working group of Soil Ecology invites scientists to join our activities. Please contact: PD Dr. Markus Raubuch, raubuch at wiz.uni-kassel.de
