      Type of membership

      The society has ordinary members, junior members, student members and honorary members:

       

      • Ordinary member: no reduced membership fee
      • Junior membership: Doctoral students whose doctoral student status has been confirmed by their supervisor. They pay a reduced annual fee for a maximum of three years. They then automatically become full members.
      • Student membership: Students on presentation of proof of enrollment. They pay a reduced annual fee for a maximum of three years. They then automatically become full members or, on application, junior members.
      • Honorary members: The Board of Directors has the right to appoint personalities who have rendered outstanding services to ecological research or its application as honorary members. Honorary members are exempt from the obligation to pay membership fees, but have the same rights as ordinary members.

      Beginning of membership:
      • Membership is valid for a full calendar year, i.e. retroactively from January 1 th if you join during the year.

      • An application for membership must be submitted to the office (via e-mail or online form). At the same time, the first membership fee for the current financial year must be paid by direct debit/bank transfer.

      • Membership only becomes valid upon receipt of the first fee.

      • The membership fee for existing memberships must be paid by the end of March of the current year.

      • Membership fees can be paid by direct debit or bank transfer.

      End of membership
      • Membership is automatically renewed for a further year if it is not terminated. Notice of termination must be given in writing (email; by post) by 31.12. of the year.

      • Cancellation can be submitted in writing to the office at any time. The notice of cancellation must be submitted in writing by December 31 of the financial year at the latest. However, the membership fee for the current financial year must be paid in full.

In addition to member support, the communication of our own offers and the dispatch of GfÖ publications, if applicable by our print shop and the activation of online access by Elsevier Verlag, all data provided by you will be collected, processed and used exclusively for internal statistical purposes. In the case of a direct debit authorization for SEPA direct debit or the transmission of your credit card details for payment of the membership fee, we will forward your data to the collecting credit card company and to the software company for processing the data provided.
