The GfÖ Annual Conference 2010 will take place in Giessen from August 30 to September 3.

On September 16, 2009, the GfÖ handed out highly endowed awards for an outstanding PhD-Thesis (Horst-Wiehe-Award) and two Diploma-Theses (GfÖ Diploma Awards) on ecology. During the award session, the GfÖ also honoured it's outstanding member Prof. em. Dr. Dr. h. c. Wolfgang Haber.
The GfÖ Award 2009 Laureates are:
Inken Preuss (Lüneburg): The scent of death: Do risk cues of green crabs (Carcinus maenas) change periwinkle's (Littorina littorea) behavioral traits and indirectly facilitate survival of brown algal (Fucus serratus) recruits? - Diploma-Thesis.
Lea Atanasova (Wien): Regional dynamics of Calamagrostis pseudophragmites on riverbanks in the NP Gesäuse inferred from AFLPs. - Diploma-Thesis.
Dr. Miguel A. Fortuna (Princeton): Spatial networks in ecology. - PhD-Thesis.
