Remote sensing

Remote sensing sessions are an integral part of GfÖ's annual meetings. The initiative group remote sensing addresses all who are interested in using remote sensing data and methods to answer ecological questions. We want to build up a network to promote the exchange of knowledge in the different fields of remote sensing in ecology. In particular, the initiative group has the following goals:

  • Exchange of ideas on projects, methods, code and data in the form of workshops, sessions at the GfÖ annual meeting, regular (also virtual) meetings and establishment of a communication platform
  • Exchange with working groups within the GFÖ and other (inter)national researchers and groups
  • To give students and young researchers a platform to present their projects and results in small symposia

We envision an open structure for the initiative group, so that in addition to regular active participation, there will be opportunities to join us as time and interest permit. We would especially welcome the participation of young scientists working at the interface of remote sensing and ecology.  We are available now at the email address remotesensing@gfoe.org and are looking forward to hearing from you.
